The Overlooked Impact of Hormones on Women’s Mental Health

In this week’s bite size solo episode, Dr Shauna is shining a light on female mental health. 1 in 5 women experience a common mental health disorder (such as anxiety or depression) and statistics show this is on the rise.

Dr Shauna shares insights into the many mental health issues that women experience, including eating disorders, postnatal depression and mood disturbances as a result of hormonal cycles. She discusses the important differences between males and females when it comes to hormones, and why a tailored approach to treatment is absolutely necessary to account for our biological differences.

The APAC Women’s Mental Health Conference hosted by HER Centre Australia is taking place from Wednesday October 9 - Friday October 11 2024, at the Hotel Chadstone in Melbourne.
